It is undoubtedly the most turbulent time cinema has ever experienced as of late, having to push the release dates of all the major titles such as Dune, James Bond, Batman, etc, for 2021 and beyond. However, one of the titles will see its premiere sooner than planned. It has been reported that the fourth sequel of The Matrix series will debut December 22, 2021 – it had originally been to release in April 2022, so it has leaped forward by four months.
Having been pushed back as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, The Matrix 4 will despite this hit the screens a bit sooner, with unmissable Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reprising their original roles as Neo and Trinity. There are still no details on the plot but Reeves warned us that it’s going to be “something special.” The film’s co-director Lilly Wachowski has also confirmed that the original trilogy of films was intended as a metaphor for the trans experience, a theory that had long circulated online. Have a little patience for a tad bit longer.
